48 on my CMPS261 project

Filed under: old blog — Mark @ 1:47 pm

Well, I found out that i made a 48 on my CMPS project because it
“wasn’t submitted”.  Jo and I went to PJ’s and they gave us our drinks
for free since their card machine was down.  Cordelia just randomly
crashed after being angry about her food…nice.

“You can’t be christian and be pro-abortion”

Filed under: old blog — Mark @ 1:43 pm

Yesterday on a car i saw a bumpersticker that read a little like this:
“You can’t be christian and be pro-abortion” riiiggght…..wrong.
First off, i think they meant “pro-choice” which does not correlate to
being pro- abortion. Pro-abortion doesn’t mean: “bahhh, let’s kill all
fetuses!”.  Secondly, who says that you can’t be both christian and
pro-choice, and i know people that are.  This stuff pisses me off too
much, I just blew my rant..so much for that.

Binary tattoo

Filed under: old blog — Mark @ 1:39 pm

Dr. Radle’s test wasn’t really hard at all.

I had to go get Justine to bring her to helping hands, and we passed
her dad as we were leaving…damn. Feels like im using lots of gas
this week :(

Work was good tonight. I did moderately ok, I suppose great for a
thursday.  First off, I had Rob Perillo from the KATC weather team,
and his family. They tipped me pretty much ok.  Secondly, I had one of
the important Red Cross guys at one of my tables.  Third, Tom, Conan,
and GK came and ate tonight. They have this bright idea to a) get a
tattoo and b) get it of their name in binary. Heh, i don’t like
tattoos in the first place, and second, i wouldn’t want that shit on
me for the rest of my life. Nice try. Tom definately didn’t wanna do
it, but conan said he is…and gk says he isn’t kidding, that he is
doing it too. Right.

“With a plot line so good, who needs acting?”

Parish officials expect to annouce re-entry plan to evacuees sometime
Thursday, September 29 and is meeting tomorrow morning to devise a
plan. Sulphur water is safe to drink and Lake Charles has water
service, but the water is still not safe to drink. Mayor Randy Roach
says the boil water order still applies to Lake Charles. Officials
also urge citizens to not get on the waterways of Lake Charles.
——————————————————————————–
Lower parts of the Calcasieu Parish still had severe flooding Sunday,
and it may experience additional flooding later as water from
Hurricane Rita in areas north of Lake Charles head south.  Parts of
Lake Charles where water was up to 6 feet deep Saturday were down to 2
or 3 feet.  Based upon early estimates, the parish office of emergency
preparedness says at least 20 to 25 percent of the parish’s homes, or
roughly 65,000, will have serious damage from floodwater or rain in
homes with wind damage.
——————————————————————————–
The evacuation before Rita was much more successful than it was in
Mississippi and Louisiana as Katrina approached _ in large part
because citizens seemed to take the danger more seriously after seeing
so many people stranded in flooded New Orleans.  “The fact is, we’ve
never had an evacuation this size before: 2.7 million people,” said
Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas.  About 85 percent will have some damage,
they say, and at least 5 percent have been totally destroyed

Running from Rita

Filed under: old blog — Mark @ 1:34 pm

Well, we ran away on thursday, fled up to arkansas with some family.
It was nice there, but after a few days, we started to get stur crazy.
Saturday we drove through the storm a little..went down to Ruston.
When we got to Ruston, there was no power, so we just went straight to
Natchitoches.  When we got to Natchitoches, I busted my tire :( We
visited Prudhomme and Prem and his wife. They fed us and it was fun.
Then we went to visit Mrs. Sanjeetha and her family, they were out of
power, so we sat in candlelight, it was neat. After that, John Shore
let us stay the night at prudhomme in the sick room. That was very
nice of him.  Sunday we went and got the tire fixed at walmart, where
all the frozen/cold food had to be thrown out…it was sad.  Then we
headed back to lafayette bc i had to be at work at night.  Last night
was busier than i’ve ever seen it for a sunday night at casa ole.  It
very well could have been a friday night, except it was compacted into
two fewer hours, and we were running out of chips, guacamole, ground
beef, etc.  I made $99 which for a sunday night, is crazy. Normally i
make about $20 tops on a sunday night.

state of mind.” -Conan

Baskin Robbins $1 scoops

Filed under: old blog — Mark @ 12:52 pm

Well, it has been a while. A lot has happened.  I got kinda bogged
down for a little while…and didn’t update.  Hey, what can i say,
stuff happens.  On a good note: $1 ice cream scoops at baskin robbins
rock some face.  The baby is starting to crawl, and she can sit up for
a long time, in addition to eat our homework and lots of other “neat”
stuff.  David Venable’s speech was …annoying Cordelia is finally
growing some hair.

Pay before you pump

Filed under: old blog — Mark @ 12:45 pm

Work this morning. Didn’t make a lot of money, but it was ok.  All the
gas stations are making you pay before you pump, and they give you a
weird receipt with debit/credit cards.  Can’t wait to go get Josephine
and Cordelia tonight :)

Mmmm, A&W

Filed under: old blog — Mark @ 11:49 am

Got a new parking sticker.  Getting A&W, baby, groceries, clothes
washed today.  Picked up Swati, tried to convince her to go to
ULL. Did not go grocery shopping and did not get the clothes
washed. But had fun, and the A&W was good.  I’m glad to have my little
pickle back.

Hurricane Katrina approaches

Filed under: old blog — Mark @ 11:47 am

Dad calls me and tells me I have to go home. Work was slow, and of
course, casa ole is going to stay open even for that huge hurricane
katrina. it is not a category 5 hurricane or anything…nahh. people
act like they could care less.  Dad and daphne came and got
cordelia. She’s gonna stay over there for a few days till the
hurricane is gone. gk, tom, and john came over and ate some food with
us, and we ddr’ed. Josephine and i have the apartment to ourselves
tonight, man, it is too quiet without the baby around.  Oh yeah,
classes are cancelled tomorrow on account of katrina. w00t.

Too much DDR

Filed under: old blog — Mark @ 11:47 am

Had to work, it was slow. Gk called me to tell me he and conan were
cooking hamburgers, that jo, the babe, and i should go over after i
have work…that was interesting, but it eventually worked out.
DDR-ed like crazy. Almost 500 calories. I was tired.

it felt cold when i came back into the apartment.  I got on Google IM
and tried to figure out the call function.  Woke GK up at 4:45.  Woke
Andy up at 6:03.  Then i went to get donuts with gk.  The baby just
pooped and Josephine is in class.  Posted link on Livejournal.  Notes

This is not me

Filed under: old blog — Mark @ 11:43 am

Dropped Calc III today. I was half considering changing majors to
BSAT, but after long thought, i’ve decided to change my concentration
to Information Technology instead of Scientific Computing. So, since I
don’t need Calc III for IT, I decided to drop it + be lazy this
semester and not add another class in its spot. Got a yearbook. Got my
CMPS 261 book today. Cordelia had shots today. Also got my refund
check. Jo is mad at me.

Shane McCulley?

Filed under: old blog — Mark @ 11:41 am

GK and John came over this morning. Played a little ddr before
class. Honors Seminar was crazy full.  Saw Joel from LaTech. After
class, went to CMPS261. Gk was there, Conan was there, Michelle Wing
was there. Dr. Radle was checking roll: “Shane McCulley?” and we all
laugh. “Any ever program using recursion?” GK, Conan, and I raise our
hands simultaneously. After class, saw Noble, Tom, Hannah,
Stephie-Cat. GK is coming over to play DDr shortly, Tom is here
chilling at the moment.

Gas is getting costly!

Filed under: old blog — Mark @ 11:30 am

GK and John P. showed up today. I was actually in blue for the first
time in a while. Daniel paid me $10 to close for him, so essentially
paying me to make more money. On my way home, I passed GK. I can’t
wait to battle him in ddr.  Josephine and Cordelia will probably be
going to California Labor Day weekend. I shall be alone.  I spend $37
on gas today. Last year i could fill up for $22.  Dumb meeting at
work. “We are competing with the other casa ole. Sell lots of food and
you “win” a free day off. Lose and you have to drive to Opelousas to
cover the winner’s shifts

Another day at work.

Filed under: old blog — Mark @ 11:29 am
